Yearly | Today's Events

Each of our events, from monthly mixers to the big enchilada, our Gourmet Gala, are carried out with supreme attention to detail and class. We make it a point to provide an enjoyable atmosphere to guests and members, while at the same time, raising funds for the industry. Plain and simple, we throw one heck of a party.

ServSafe Testing At The GHRA

ServSafe ® is a food safety program providing high-quality food safety education and training materials for the restaurant and foodservice industry.

User-friendly and flexible, ServSafe ® training materials provide a complementary mix of components to satisfy each level of an operator’s food safety needs.

This comprehensive program offers an assessment, an optional preparatory course in food safety and the FoodGuard online exam.

The Greater Houston Restaurant Association offers a proctored testing site for ServSafe Certification.

NOTE: Two forms of ID must be presented at the time of testing One form must have the examinee’s photograph. (e.g. driver’s license, passport, military ID, etc.)

Dine Around

Members tour the town in style at the GHRA’s annual Dine Around event. Guests enjoy appetizers and music before heading around town, touring an assortment of restaurants. After a two-course meal, paired with wines at each host restaurant, everyone heads back to the first restaurant to toast the evening with champagne and a lavish dessert buffet.

Golf Tournament

Members of the GHRA have a swinging good time at the Spring Golf Tournament. A change-of-pace from the usual fundraisers, restaurateurs participate in a shotgun start and go on putting until they drop. Members enter the tournament for $200 to raise funds for the GHRA Scholarship Fund, the Texas Restaurant Association Education Foundation and other local deserving charities and culinary institutions.

Annual Gourmet Gala

The Annual Gala is the GHRA’s most memorable social event, marked by a lavish seated dinner, live and silent auction and musical entertainment. Each year brings its own engaging theme like a Mardi Gras Masquerade (2006) or a Twenties Flapper Ball (2005). Last year, the GHRA brought a “James Bond” inspired theme to life with Dine Another Day - The Gala 2007. For the past two consecutive years, the Gala has been held at the Corinthian, an extremely elegant venue, known as an iconic landmark in the heart of downtown Houston.

The President’s Dinner

The Greater Houston Restaurant Association hosts an Annual President’s Dinner each May. The eventful evening honors the current president, showcases highlights from previous years and marks the induction of a new president. Members attend the festive event to encourage incoming president and celebrate the achievements of presidents past.
