Molina’s Cantina – GHRA Member since 1945. Raul & Mary Molina going western at Molina’s. Molina’s was among the first of fine Tex-Mex eateries in the Houston area, and today, nearly 70 years later, is still the Mexican restaurant of choice for native Houstonians.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Good Legislation.

Whether it’s regulation of wages, insurance rates, tax rates, liquor licensing, food handling, equipment purchasing or any number of other issues, politics directly influence our industry.

The GHRA goes to great lengths to represent you. Each year, we travel to Washington, D.C., to address industry-related legislation with our national politicians. Because we have been so successful in defeating anti-industry legislation, we are determined to continue to be the industry watchdogs, resulting in more profitable business returns for you. Texas proudly has the largest state delegation in D.C. representing the industry.

Your Involvement Makes a Difference.

Take Immediate Action

The TRA created a Political Action Committee (PAC) to overcome the difficult and expensive process of deciding which political campaigns should be supported financially. Through the combined contributions of many in the foodservice industry, the Greater Houston Restaurant Association and TRA PAC grows significantly and holds a powerful influence over the officials closest to our industry's most sensitive issues. Our TRA PAC trustees (restaurateurs) volunteer their time to diligently keep informed about the issues and legislation that might affect your bottom line and are better able to determine which state officials and candidates merit the financial support from our industry.

Without your financial contribution, the restaurant industry fails to be recognized as a unified voice in the battle to defeat anti-business legislation. Your support makes a drastic difference to the Association, and the industry as a whole.

  • Be a member of our government affairs committee, and join our very strong grass-roots group of restaurateurs dedicated to fighting for what's right for the industry. Call the GHRA office at 713.802.1200 or email Rene Zamore at director@ghra.com.
  • Write your local officials and tell them how you feel about issues that are important to you.
